AA Executive Platinum challenge

AA Executive Platinum challenge

  1. butterflyblue New Member

    Hi Lucky,
I got offered AA gold status till 10/31/19. The challenge is to spend $4000 EQD and 15000 EQM to achieve executive platinum. I do have a business round trip from Chicago to shanghai coming up… What is the best solution to achieve the EP Status with this trip? Thanks!

P.S. first time using this forum.

    Welcome!

There’s no secret to those challenges really. You have to fly the amount they request.

Chicago to Shanghai is just over 14,000 miles round trip. AA awards EQM based on your fare class. So if your trip is economy, you’ll get 14,000 EQMs. If you fly premium economy or higher, there is a multiplier, so you’ll get considerably more EQMs and push yourself over their 15,000 threshold.

AA awards EQDs based on the price of your ticket. So, you’ll need to spend at least $4,000 on your ticket (before taxes and fees).

If you’re flying in business or premium economy, you could look at flying a OneWorld partner, since AA awards EQMs and EQDs a bit differently there. But, most challenges require you to actually fly American, and not a partner.

Thank you! I think I will book a business fare of $3795 to meet the requirement. After all, the executive platinum is worth the money…

Is the EXP status good through Jan 2021? And you get the 4 SWUs for completing the challenge? It’s worth it.

Yes, if I complete the challenge by 10/31, the status will be good through 1/2021. I used to fly AA (gold ) quite a bit, then they cut the nonstop flight to china, i switched to other airlines… To my surprise, AA picked me for the challenge… I would love to fly JAL though… but don’t want to mess up the mileage calculation:)

Love to see this challenge have never seen an EP challenge before – the most anyone has gotten is Platinum. Can you post the letter on here (without any personal info)?

Agreed. EP challenges are extremely rare, especially considering this person only had AA gold in the past.
