AA Bumping Policy
Last month I asked a question about AA’s bumping policy after my family and I were bumped from a DFW-CDG award flight (full story and question here: https://asklucky.onemileatatime.com/threads/aa-bumping-policy.36114). Wanted to follow up to pass along the official answer and response.
Per AA, we were bumped because we were flying on award tickets. Not surprising. They did say that the unofficial rule is that CKs don’t get bumped ever, regardless if the ticket is booked with cash or miles. Think what happened here was that my family was booked on a separate reservation and they were bumped first, with my being dragged along because AA had linked the reservations.
They spent a lot of time (maybe too much for me) on the phone explaining and also compensated us with 50,000 miles each (including the my daughter who was flying as a lap infant, for 200,000 miles in all). Still annoyed at what happened, but I’m happy with the response and back to flying American.
Thanks for the update, glad it worked out in your favor!
That’s amazing compensation. As an EXP, I’ve been bumped flying on an award sAAver ticket. Thanks for sharing.
Appreciate the update, it’s great things worked out well.
