AA Barclay Voucher

AA Barclay Voucher

    Hey Lucky and Tiffany-
Simple question is this: Do I still get a free bag if I closed the account of an airlines card?

    More details:
I am redeeming a $100 voucher received for spend on the Barclay Aviator Red MC for a flight in August but my card is due for annual fee in June. If I am not able to convince them to waive the annual fee once again this year, I would close this account. If I close the account, will I still be eligible for a free checked bag (given that the card used to buy the ticket was allowed one free checked bag)?

As an aside, I am planning on getting the AA Citi card for free bags for future flights, and will likely move my AA spend to this card given then I have moved most of my other spend to other cards (thanks to your advice) and will likely not meet the 25k threshold for $100 voucher.

    Thanks for your help!

@Suraj, card benefits are usually only available as long as the card is open. So if you close the card before the care flight I would not expect to get the benefits (you might get lucky if AA has not updated your change in status). However, if you open an AA Citi card before you take your flight you should then be eligible for free checked baggage based on that card.
