AA award cancellation policy

AA award cancellation policy

    Hi Lucky,

I am flying to HKG tomorrow and have a CX award HKG-SIN booked but I’m waiting to see if a HKG-BKK award will open up (either via OneWorld or StarAlliance). Given that I’m an AA EXP member would I get charged any fees or lose my miles if I cancel my award ticket within a few hours of take off? I’m hoping to land in HKG, use my HKG-SIN boarding pass to get back into the Wing FCL and then check if the other flight has cleared. Any problem here? I don’t plan to make a habit of this but unfortunately the flights I want have not opened. Thanks for your tips!

Nope, as an EXP you can cancel whenever.
