AA Asian Chicken question

AA Asian Chicken question

  1. Mikewarren1000 Member

Was wondering has anyone had the Asian Chicken on AA? This would be one currently in rotation, with jasmine rice, snow peas & toasted sesame seeds. It doesnt seem to be 1 of the 8 options on the new AA domestic first meals which I know there are reviews out there for. I suppose b/c its Lax/Mia so its considered Flagship maybe the options are different.

It doesnt say if its breast or thigh and I dont eat dark meat so I was just wondering if anyone possibly knew. One of the 4 options is a cold dish (prefer having a hot entree) and one is beef which i dont eat. I typically get the pasta but this one sounds horrible. Typically i enjoy their ricotta ravioli or butternut squash tortellini. This is a cremeni mushroom bolognese. Regardless of it being a veggie dish anything that texturally presents itself as something that in its original form is a beef dish i have no desire in having.

I am considering maybe special ordering the Vegeterian meal although if the chicken is breast i am good.

I just was on with AA and the rep had no clue if it was breast or thigh and actually was shocked i took the time to wait 45 minutes to ask that however i did have another question to ask her about another reservation so NO i didnt just call in about a chicken breast question 🙂

It is a chicken breast. Not very good IMO, but I really like asian food. This is not nearly as good a the ravioli or tortellini. AA’s “Asian Chicken Salad” is atrocious. AA thinks “let’s add sesame oil to a vinaigrette and sesame seeds to a salad” – voila, it’s Asian! I never expect much from airline food domestically, and AA’s Asian Chicken is no different. Chicken is barely passable. The peas are blah. The rice was actually OK.

The Asian Vegetarian option is OK. It tastes good, IMO. I’d order the Zoe’s Charcuterie plate, but that has pork (and beef I think). I’ve tried ordering that 3 times, and it is always mis-catered. Given up trying to get it. I don’t think it exists. Unfortunately, none of my 4 upcoming flights are full meal flights, so although my upgrades all cleared T-100 I am stuck with the snack basket. Instead I’ll grab hummus from the back.

Finally, spending 45 minutes on the phone with AA is about 38 minutes too long, for any reason.

There food is such a level below United. Its why despite the Flagship access which i do love I still would put United (as long as its the 787) at the top of the list. However, it only works for me for the return from NY not the outbound as it leaves too early for me.

Maybe I will request the asian vegetarian then since the chicken sounds pretty Blah. I dont get why they have to get too creative with the pasta option. It sounds horrible. Just do ricotta & spinach tortellini in marinara or butternut squash Rav in a brown butter sage. Both of those are hard to mess up
