AA agent error in booking Etihad flight

AA agent error in booking Etihad flight

1. Anonymous Guest

@Tiffany or anyone else, I am hoping someone might have a solution to this:
booked Etihad MLE-AUH-JFK for 2 with AA miles but the ticket for 1 passenger on the MLE -AUH leg did not get ticketed by AA due to agent error, unfortunately when i noticed and called AA the seats were already gone..

I have made several calls to AA over the past 2 weeks trying to get this resolved and they keep telling me they sent a request to etihad but don’t have a response back since that portion of the flight is now sold out, both in business and economy. The agent I spoke to yesterday said they are not allowed to over book other airlines flights so they have to keep waiting for etihad to respond…
Our flight is on 8/21 and I am really concerned that my wife is not going to have a flight back. I am open to any suggestions at this point.

@Tiffany or anyone else. I booked 2 tix on Etihad using AA miles MLE-AUH-JFK the MLE-AUH portion for 1 passenger was never tickted due to AA agent’s error.
When I realized this mistake I called AA and they sent a request to Etihad since the seat was no longer available. I was told to check back in 48hrs, been calling for the past 2 weeks and nothing from Etihad.

AA agent is saying there is nothing they can do but to keep sending the request especially since that particular flight is now sold out… My flight is only a week from now, so what are my options at this point?

Hey @Will A — Oof, that sucks, and I’m sorry you’re having to deal with it. I had something similar happen, but the flight wasn’t sold out.

Ask for a supervisor, and push to get a liaison involved. Be super nice, but firm! Hopefully they can figure something out, or get you both on a different flight.

@Tiffany thank you, i’ll be calling again today!

@Tiffany I was just wondering how do i get a liaison involved? The last supervisor I spoke with said the only way they communicate with Etihad is by sending emails to their Dallas office and then wait for a response. She said she couldn’t call Etihad, just have to wait for a response to the email message, which i thought was kind of strange…

The supervisor can put a request in to the liaison office — they still communicate via email, but there’s more handholding. They should be able to work on this for you, just be super charming so they want to.

You could call them when the Etihad ticketing office in Abu Dhabi is open , ask them nicely to call Etihad while you hold and get it resolved, perhaps put you on another flight. This may work , but if the flight is full AA generally won’t do anything.
