AA 24 hour refund after hold
I put an AA revenue ticket on hold for 24 hours, then bought the ticket right as the 24 hours ended. Do I have another 24 hours to refund or make fee-free changes to the ticket?
I don’t believe you do. I think the rule is they either have to allow you to hold it 24 hours for free or let you make changes/cancel after 24 hours for free but it’s up to the airline to decide which to do. AA chooses to allow the hold so I don’t think you can then change/cancel within 24 hours without penalty.
But someone please correct me if I’m wrong.

Actually, you can do BOTH. Here is a screenshot of my last AA reservation (a few days ago), which was courtesy-held for 24 hrs, and when I was about to pay, the website displayed the message regarding the right to cancel within 24hrs. Since I make screenshots of every online purchase (paranoia???), here it is:
