A subtle change for American Executive Platinum Fliers

A subtle change for American Executive Platinum Fliers

  1. Anonymous Guest

Hello Lucky, A subtle change that American seems to have implemented this year that I noticed recently is the extreme lack of availability to use System-wide Upgrades. With every flight that I have tried to book the last few weeks (both Domestic and International,) the only Upgrade that is available is from Business to First Class — no availability whatsoever from Coach to First/Business. And I have checked dates throughout the coming 12 months, not just for near future flights.

I would appreciate your addressing this situation to see if others have found this to the case as well.

    My sincere thanks! –John Staley

@John Staley From the grandstands it appears to me American has made an executive decision to screw the loyal customer. Revenue and $ spend qualifying for status, fewer given and available upgrades, no saver awards in premium class unless its on the old A330 or their fabulous 767 that they forgot to put monitors in bus class, limited economy saver awards, no flights to gateway cities unless you want to fly 2 connections on a regional jet, on an on. Does anyone else get sick of searching for an award that goes east and all you get is BA and a $500 surcharge??? Just my rant for the day.

@MarkS. I would love to see some premium saver award seats on AAs “old A330” planes. Those too have disappeared!

    I second that @MarkS !

I was #1 on the upgrade list with a SWU from Raleigh to London on Saturday. 5 open seats in business. Upgrade didn’t clear until waiting in line to board, and it was requested back in October

Can’t complain too much, since ultimately the upgrade did clear and I had a bed! But, did American really think 5 people were going to walk up and pay for full fare business class from Raleigh to London at 5pm on a Saturday in January? Seemed highly unlikely.

Anyways, there’s my rant for the day too:D
