*A Gold Denied Free Checked Bag by United
So, I’m *A Gold with Singapore, but needed to check a bag on a domestic flight yesterday which was tied to my Asiana FF#. The check-in agent said that she could not waive the bag fee unless I linked my Singapore FF# with the reservation instead. Not wanting to delay my group, I paid and am planning to request a refund for it.
Does this sound like United’s policy?
I’m not super-familiar with the policies but from an IT POV that sounds normal to me. The system would base your status on the FF number entered in the record and your Asiana one doesn’t have status. You can check in with one FF number and change it before you fly.
Hi Wilve,
I am a check-in agent, and unfortunately I’ve seen this occur many times. You can only link one FF# to your reservation, and we cannot override this to add benefits from another FF#. You should be able to call United reservations, and get them to change the FF# to your Singapore #, and then ask for reimbursement of the luggage fee by providing them with the receipt number!
Bag fee waivers are based on the FF# linked to the ticket. TO have the bag fee waived you would have had to place the SQ FFN on your ticket.
I think you could have linked your ticket to SQ, checked in your bag and then ask the gate agent to change the FFN to your OZ number.
Thanks everyone! Changing it twice will be a PITA but whatever will save the $25
