is 110,000 miles way too much to spend for Lufthansa first from ord to Europe? Is there a better way to do this with chase points?

Lifemiles not showing any lh availability 🙁

Just to clarify: are you booking a cash ticket and paying with your Ultimate Rewards points via the Chase portal or some other method? That is a lot of points but not completely out of the ballpark. LH doesn’t make a lot of F seats available on miles so if you find something for a price you’re willing to pay, go for it.

Paying by transfering points to united.

Keep swapping between doing 2*2*2 united for 57500 or Lufthansa for 110,000

For LH F, 110k chase points is about as good as it gets. Are you making a connection? If you’re connecting same day, you can use the LH FCT at FRA.

Maybe I’m being “cheap” but what’s wrong with United at half the cost? Unless it’s a special trip where the extra care and attention from First Class is important, seems worth giving United credit at half the cost.

It’s an overnight flight, so you won’t experience as many of the amenities as during a 9hour daytime flight. You mention Europe, not Frankfurt, as your destination… so potentially you could fly nonstop out of Chicago. You’d have access to the great Polaris lounge in O’Hare predeparture. And, you still have a flat bed to sleep on. I’ve gotten great night sleeps on United, even in 2x2x2, especially if you get on a Dreamliner.

    Seems worth still considering!

@rickyw that’s pretty logical thinking and UR points can be valuable so I wouldnt consider it being “cheap” 😉

Thanks guys. Superb feedback. The flight to Europe on united is 2x2x2 so direct aisle in middle and Polaris in chicago pretty good!!! You make great points Ricky!!!!

Btw the united website rather than app has considerably more availability to Europe?! I think I may try Swiss as never have. 13k only extra. Swiss there. United back. Pretty good.

Just to double back on this. I ended up flying Ord to Washington then Washington to London on the 787. It was a late leaving flight from Washington which was nice in terms of timing for sleep. Food and service was excellent. Cubby in 1e was big and the entertainment great. Touchscreen one of the most responsive in my opinion. All in all a great flight for 57,500 miles!!!

Flew air Canada back and felt much more restricted in seat. Privacy an issue on ua but everyone has headphones on anyway. I didn’t find it an issue.

    Thanks for the advice all!!

Btw the ua website was littered with phantom availability
