1.5mm Marriott points

1.5mm Marriott points

hi, looking for some advice. I have 1.5mm Marriott points and am looking to maximize them for a trip for 4 to Russia next August. I can do the 5nights and flight as a timeshare owner. I don’t want to mess up and transfer points to the wrong airline. We would like to fly biz or first into Moscow. I have spent time researching but after the Singapore flight from Houston to Moscow dropped off, I just don’t know how to proceed. I will be traveling with my parents so as few connections as possible is a good thing. Much thanks!

    Hi @Margaret, and welcome!

My first suggestion would be to check availability before you transfer any points regardless. May I ask where you would be departing from?

We will be leaving from ORD and have option to go to Moscow or st Petersburg, either one. Dates are pretty flexible just sometime around the 12 August and returning around 27th.

So using Delta miles to fly on Aeroflot could be a great option, we really enjoyed our recent trip. United miles could also make sense, and would be probably be easier for getting connections from Chicago. Take a peek around (and of course we’re here to help with questions), but the main thing is to make sure there’s a good option, AND a backup option, before you make transfers.

We flew with Aeroflot last year from JFK to SVO then to TLV and were most impressed with them. I understand that you want to use points/miles, but it is worth to remember that Aeroflot tends to have good fares most of the time. A month or so ago I got 3 business class tickets for the following itineraries in May 2017: JFK-SVO-LED, then LED-SVO, then SVO-JFK for $2,300 per person, which in my opinion is a very good fare (and can earn you Delta Skymiles).
