Using amex platinum airline credit
I recently got an offer to upgrade my AA status to gold for $395. I missed gold cutoff last year by 500 eqms. I met all other requirements. I only flu maybe 8-10 times per year and I always fly American . Nine times out of ten it’s domestic or short flights from Texas to Mexico or Caribbean .
Anyways I know it’s likely not a great deal cost wise but is it possible to use my $200 airline credit through the amex platinum to purchase the gold status? Would knock $200 off the total and at $195 it might be more worth it? Likely still not a great value in my case?
Thanks for the clarification
Was there a reason you couldnt buy a cheap ticket and fly to earn the 500 EQMs?
You’d have to find out if you can use an AA gift card to pay for cost. I dont think the $395 charge would trigger the Amex credit.
