US$450/yr for SkyTeam Elite – Worth it?

US$450/yr for SkyTeam Elite – Worth it?

I’m thinking to start flying more consistently on one airline, which happens to be within the SkyTeam group, and they are offering customers with a domestic address where I live an instant upgrade to their “Gold” tier for about US$450 annually. The gold tier comes with SkyTeam Elite (not Plus) as well as lounge access whenever you fly with them domestically as well as in certain international terminals.

I thought I’d ask a more experienced community of frequent flyers regarding whether or not this price is worth it. Opinions?

@Electrolinus, welcome. This sounds like the base level in a Skyteam FF program. Only you can decide whether the benefits are worth it to you. How much do you travel, how much do you value the lounge benefits. Are there any credit cards available to you that can give you some of these benefits at a lower price point?
