For the first time in a long time I have Graduated from a Silver United to Gold. This year based on current travel booked through December 31st I will finish with about 74,500 flown miles and about $7,450.00 PQD.
I have a couple of questions for you if I may
1) Is it worthwhile doing a mileage/PQD run to gain Platinum status?
2) I am out of vacation this year so would need to leave on a Saturday morning and return Sunday, any recommendations for places to fly for the night that would cover the PQM & PQD that I would need?
My home airport is SFO.
Thanks for your consideration to these questions.
Best Regards
Pete

Welcome Pete.

You are still quite a way short of the PQD requirement, are you willing to spend 1550$ plus on this?

For finding flights you best bet would be Google flights.

Any flight to the East coast from SFO in domestic F should cover this nicely, here is an example of a direct flight to Atlanta in the end of the month.

I would suggest playing around a bit with Google flight and see what you can find.

Just as suggestion, but if you can sleep on planes and is able to travel out on a Friday night consider taking a red eye instead of a Saturday morning flight. That way you would get a holiday out of it as well and not just a status run.

There is also the PQD waiver for the United MileagePlus Card after spending 25K which might be possible with manufactured spending even if it’s a bit late in the year for it.

Perhaps somebody that know more about manufactured spending like @MidSouth Skier could advise you about this, manufactured spending is not my strong side of the hobby.

Yes, you’d be cutting it close for $25K – or maybe you’ve already spent some on the card? I believe you’d need to both spend it and pay it off. Not impossible but quite a challenge. If you’re interested in this let me know – and you may want to read the Point Chaser blog as Ariana is in your area and knows which stores are MS-friendly there.
