SOMEWHERE IN THE GREY AREA

SOMEWHERE IN THE GREY AREA

I booked a flight to Maui (booked on 11/16 for trip in 7/17). I booked during platinum status. I’ll have no status in July. Do my automatic upgrade request still apply? (500 mile upgrades meet requirements). Am I still treated like platinum since I booked at that level? The only reason I have this question is today I tried to upgrade one leg of the flight with miles. AA told me that all that would do is put on the list for an upgrade. Having no status in July, I wouldn’t think I could qualify for the upgrade list. Is that making sense?

I believe you will still be on the upgrade list, but unfortunately you’ll be behind any Platinums and Golds also on the list. And technically also behind someone with no status, who has spent more $$$ with the airline in 2017.

So yes, upgrades still work, but unfortunately you potentially could be low on the list making chances of clearing harder
