Newbies first mileage run

Newbies first mileage run

Being brand spanking to this I have a newbie question. Sorry if its been asked before. I want to start a mileage run starting from PBI and don’t know how to start. Any help would be appreciated.

@ Gaurav as a merchant Marine engineer I get more time off than most other professions, and taking 2-3 or 4-5 days just jetting around to acquire mileage seems like an easy way to do it.

@vcdholo, the reason I asked my initial question was to figure out if you were trying to get status or just miles. It seems like it is the latter so the following is based on that.

Mileage runs were very popular and a great way to accrue miles a couple of years ago when you could find high-distance flights for cheap fares. However, with DL, UA, along with B6 and WN all going revenue based on their earning side and AA switching over in the second half of this year, it doesn’t make much sense as an arbitrage opportunity for most people. If you’re flying around the country any way by all means accrue the miles but I wouldn’t start collecting miles by running from scratch. Credit cards and spending might be a much better option.

Try using google flights to see what deals are available out of PBI. You should check out deals on flyertalk as well. It’s probably easier to start these runs from larger airports though, like LAX to Panama deal that ran a while back. Finding a deal worthy of a mileage run is a lot of trial and error on the airline’s website, which will be time consuming.

Have you considered using credit cards and shopping portals to boost the number of miles you have?

I’m waiting for my Citi card and I have the Starwood card right now, but I thought this could be used to the accrual of more miles. I am a newbie and was looking for ease of mileage. I really appreciate the help.
