Mileage Run for ~11000 MQMs/DL – worth it?
I will requalify easily for Delta FO this year, being short of approx. 11.000 MQMs of Gold. I am contemplating a mileage run for this. Any suggestions? Would only do that if it was at a good rate; otherwise, i’ll go with Silver for 2016. Gold is tempting though, especially since I might not get the chance to make Gold for 2017.
Where are you planing to fly from? Hard to give you concert advice without knowing.
Take a look and see if you find something here.
@Nightliner — In general, unless you know you’ll be traveling the same amount or more next year, it’s probably not worthwhile. There are a lot of variables, but that’s my general approach to status at the lower tiers.
would be flying from LAS in November – between Nov 13 and Nov 19, to be precise. Thought about runs to ANC @~280 USD return, but I would need two of these 🙂
Re: Amount of flying: Realistically, I’ll be doing between 25-35K miles “a**-in-seat”, so the main reason trying to achieve status is to try to make sure that seat is not a middle seat in row 44 🙂
So you are looking for Y fares?
Have you tried Google flights?
Found an example of Y on DL LAS-ATL-PTY Panama of 280$ if you want to make a holiday of it. Out in the morning of Nov 13 home on 16-18. All day flights no red eyes, 3467 miles each way
If home on the 16 you could try a shorter domestic run on 17-18 to reach 11K?
Optionally if you are willing to do long haul overnight in Y there is DL LAS-ATL-GRU or GIG for under 650$. Out in the morning of Nov 13 home on 17. You are looking at over 6K miles each way so would hit 11K with good margin.
@Nightliner if all you are looking for is preferred seat assignments, that is already available with silver. I would consider just rolling the MQM to boost your totals for next year unless you can pick up the rest cheaply and conveniently..
@No Name thanks for the PTY heads up – didnt notice that one in Google flights.
@Gaurav Maybe I’ll just do that – didnt find anything decent enough, and gold is not worth another ~550-650$ to me (despite having to actually spend another 11K miles in quite possibly an economy seat) 🙂
