Booking with Ex PLT status then crediting to Alaska

Booking with Ex PLT status then crediting to Alaska

As American has made the changes to their elite program I have a question. Is it possible to book using Ex PLT status with American and then when checking in switch to Mileage Plan to credit the miles. I guess the intent would be to try to get the perks of Ex PLT while earning more valuable miles at a higher rate with Alaskan. Anyone know if this is possible?

Technically possible but I’m not sure how the software works. I know with Delta there have been some cases where complimentary upgrades, preferred seating choices ets have fallen away when the FF is changed.
