    Hi Lucky

Love your site. Question on AA elite.

My biz travel has shifted to *A from OW this year by coincidence. My company just seems to be putting me on more UA/LH flights which is out of my control.

I have only accumulated 13,000 AA PQM this year. Currently platinum status. My question to you is whether AA is still doing the practice where I would be given Gold status next year simply on account of being Plat this year. Or am I going to lose all elite altogether?

Thanks, keep up the great work. Flying EY biz and OZ first next week based on your reviews. Looking forward

Jon – what you’re referring to is a “soft landing” where, as you say, you’d only drop down one status level for the next year. Unfortunately American discontinued this practice in 2013. Sorry 😮
