Short connection in BUD?

Short connection in BUD?

  1. bo jangles New Member

I am trying to go from NYC to Tbilisi and looking for award possibilities in J to be comfortable for the long haul. One of the only options I’m seeing is JFK-BUD-IST-TBS for 70k booked through United (LOT and then Turkish), with a very short connection through BUD. I know it’s a big risk that may mean a missed connection and getting on a later flight. Is there any reason to think that a 45 min. connection in Budapest even has any chance at all of making it, if flight takes off on time?

    Thx

45 minutes is more than enough to transit through Budapest if no major delays. Compared to the majority of international airports, it is small, only two small terminals next to each other. Passport control is fast, not just for the Hungarians, but for other passengers too. Just 2 weeks ago I was there and saw it. The 2 terminals (2a and 2b) are connected both airside and before security. Outside, you could jog from one end of Terminal 2a to the other end of Terminal 2b under 1 minute. I would not worry.
If there are some bad delays, you will be protected because you are on one ticket.
