Please help to get this trip arrangements better
Hi Lucky,
I have this private trip that I hope to arrange for and I live in Amsterdam, I will need to be in San Fran for a couple of days during the week of 5th June and 11th June. My thoughts are below with economic tickets:
Amsterdam – London 2 weeks before 5th June (flexible)
London – San Fran 5th June (prefer land in the evening)
San Fran – London/Amsterdam 11th June (prefer afternoon)
London-Amsterdam a couple of days later or directly (flexible)
I am a BA Gold member and have a bit reward can use. Would you think there is a way to make this trip a bit cheaper or better value? I can also fly via Europe – China- San Fran- Europe if that is better.
Thank you,
Celia
Celia999, Avios are usually terrible value for longer flights because they are distance based so you will need a lot of them in addition to paying hefty fuel surcharges. I would just check google flights or kayak to find cheaper routings and go with whatever works with your budget and dates of travel. Good luck!
Hi Celia! You may also want to look at premium economy fares, which can be relatively reasonable out of Europe. You earn more miles on these flights as a BA Gold, and can upgrade to business class for just a handful of points if space is available. Out of curiosity, which airline club has the best value for longer flights points resumption?
Hi @celia999 there is no one program unfortunately. It all varies by the route you are flying.

I live in the USA and I use AAdvantage for award flights to the EU. This works for me given where I live and where I wish to travel and other factors. This might not work well for your situation though. Tiffany and the other experts here have the best answers. Good luck with your travel plans.
I live in Europe and travel to US and Asia. Would AA be similar like BA? thanks.
