Hey All,

I am travelling to Zurich, Switzerland in June and would love to take a 2 night trip to a nice place nearby. I have heard of Interlaken, Lucerne and Bern and these are all are good options.

Any other options that are about 2 hours if I took the train from Zurich? We are 5 people, so dont want to live in hostels, but are fine with normal hotels as well, as long as they are clean. Looking for a place to soak in the beauty and do things like cable cars etc.

    Thanks!

I was planning to do that too, you guys could do the golden round trip (URL: https://www.pilatus.ch/en/discover/golden-round-trip/ ), it will be fun, it covers cogs railroad, cable car and boat trip. You can also buy the swiss pass to cover the rail between Zurich and Lucerne. I think Intertaken is too far away as the road in/out needs driving no rail to/from it. Good luck!

I would suggest Grindelwald. In my opinion much better than Interlaken because of how commercial Interlaken has become.

About 30 minutes outside of InterLaken is the Lauterbrunnen Valley and the small town of Lauterbrunnen. The valley runs right up to the base of the Eiger, Monch, and Jungfrau peaks and is an amazing place to hike, explore the valley and go up to the Jungfrau via train.

On the other side of the valley you can take the tram and gondola up to the Schilthorn, which was part of the old James Bond movie, On her Majesties Secret Service. Fun to visit and spectacular views.

FYI, depending on the time in June some of the higher trails may still have snow on them. We’ve been twice and stayed at Hotel Staubach in Lauterbrunnen. Can also stay up higher in Murren. Definitely will be a place we return to!
