OW 24hr Returns

OW 24hr Returns

For the last month I’ve been searching for a discount OW fare which will allow a next day return between Europe and Toronto. I’ve booked to attend a concert (with a few friends) on the 15th May, and had hoped to return on the afternoon of the 16th. Unfortunately my circumstances prevent me from travelling earlier (or returning later).

Thus far I have seen nothing that would work for OW, the best I have so far would be to position to Dublin and depart from there… but this is still pricing at more than $1600. This looks to be full fare Y/B… despite there being lower fare classes showing availability. Bizarrely there doesn’t seem to be any MileSAAver award availability anywhere in eastern NA for the 15th either!

Is this strange availability just because I’m doing a 24hr return on a Sunday? Or is there something else going on?

@Dakaix Airline pricing is based on so many factors I’m not sure where to even start. You’re probably best off using a service like hopper or Kayak or google flights to set flight fare alerts and make a decision to book. Unfortunately when you are as constrained by schedule as you describe, you’re going to be at the mercy of what is available :(.

Have you checked out low cost carriers like Wow for prices?

@Gaurav Yeah there’s a possible option with WestJet for about half of what AA/BA are currently asking. That’d be my worst case choice though!

I had a discussion with the AA Plat desk earlier for over an hour to try and work out what was going on. They agreed the fares seem very odd, if you search on BA.com it shows zero availability for a return <3 days! Their pricing team couldn't explain it either (at least why there was nothing else).

For what its worth the agent has emailed the AA "Concierge Desk" to try and get the situation reviewed (apparently they control the fare basis codes), maybe they will realise there's a problem there and release some extra fares. Probably will go nowhere, but its worth a try!
