Cheapest way to enjoy GA F – anyone interested?

Cheapest way to enjoy GA F – anyone interested?

Hi all,

I understand that some of you have raved about Garuda’s first class. While previously there are services from Amsterdam to London, which has been covered by Nick here, there is another route which you all may want to try:

Route: Jakarta – Singapore
Flight numbers: GA86 (Jakarta – Singapore – London) / GA88 (Jakarta – Singapore – Amsterdam or at times Jakarta – Amsterdam direct)
Time: depending on date since schedule varies quite a bit over time, but GA86 departs at around 07.20 while GA88 departs at around 20.30.
Flight time: Around 1 hour 40 minutes

The ticket is priced at around US$885, which is not too cheap (at least compared with the deal Ben posted), but still it’s the cheapest way to enjoy Garuda’s first class after Amsterdam – London route is closed, and even cheaper than Singapore’s first class on the same route.

The catches for this route are that it can’t be booked on Garuda’s website, may not be available on some days, and one-way only since all flights from Amsterdam / London travel directly to Jakarta on their way back. However, you may wish to ask help from your travel agent or even Garuda’s first class call centre to book the ticket. I recently confirmed the ticket availability through that call centre, and I can say I’m already getting quite impressed with how they handled my inquiry.

Anyone interested to fly on that route?

I think that’s way more expensive than the original London – Amsterdam route. Personally, I wouldn’t spend that much for such a short flight. Not enough time to get the full experience.

Thanks for posting about it though! Hopefully someone can take advantage of it.

I don’t think that’s cheap either (at least not when $50 – $70 is the normal for exonomy class on that route and at times can reach only $30 – $40; welcome to Indonesia), but I’m thinking of it more as a way to sample its offerings before going for the long-haul ones. Since apparently Nick was quite impressed by even a mere 45 mins flight across the Channel with it, I think this slightly longer route may be able to tell a bit more of Garuda’s first class.

Also helping to compensate the price issue is the access to Garuda’s own first class lounge at Jakarta instead of a contract lounge at Amsterdam. What do you all think?
