Cathay Pacific and HKG Lounge Access
Before the AA devaluation, booked a Cathay first class from SFO to HKG with a connecting business flight on Malaysia to KUL. I no longer want the second leg. However, I would like to maximize my flying experience. I can rebook a flight to KUL via SIN in Cathay business. If I do this, assume I will have full access to available Cathay business class lounges at HKG. If I use the lounges for a few hours, will this have any effect on my immigration queue into Hong Kong proper? Is there anything else I should know about this process? Is my idea even workable? I’m a relative newcomer at this so any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Nick Reid

So you’d want to end your journey in HKG, but want to spend a few hours in the line first? Or are you still connecting somewhere same day?
You’d already have access based on your arrival flight, as long as you have a same day connection.
However, I don’t know what the process is if you’re clearing immigration after transit security, if HKG is tour final destination. Also, any checked bags would go to KUL. if you call AA to drop the leg, you might get hit with a reprice
