Booking Flights on AA.com

Booking Flights on AA.com

  1. Anonymous Guest

Has anyone tried booking flights originating/departing from non-US airports on AA.com lately?

I tried to find a Hong Kong to London flights but the routes AA.com listed were through American hubs (DFW, LAX, etc). Quite expensive!
And this was even with the “All Airlines” option clicked (not just focusing on American/American Eagle flights).

A month ago, there was no issue as it was easy to book flights like this — the numerous, nonstop British Airways or Cathay Pacific flights would show up. But not those aren’t even an option.

Lucky, do you know what’s going on? I sent American a message but no answer.

Curious W, I don’t think I’ve ever seen CX flights show up on AA. It’s surprising BA wasn’t showing up though. I would just search the BA site and then call AA to book.

i think i remember seeing CX flights show up on AA before…but it’s always much more expensive than if you booked on CX’s website or something.

Wait is this for award travel or revenue tickets?

    Revenue tickets.
I just tried checking different originating airports (BKK, SIN, ICN) to destinations in Europe and the results seem very expensive, going through AA hubs in the US. Also tried NRT to SYD…nothing showed up. Weird, right?

Yeah, that does sound strange. Maybe AA is playing with its algorithms to try and route more traffic to itself? Have you tried another browser just to make sure it is not a technical issue?

    Nope that doesn’t work either.
This is annoying — can’t use the AA “Fly Now Pay Later” card for international to international flights now.

if i do advanced search, I get CX flights codeshared by AA, whether its Y, J or F. I selected non stop flights and all carriers

Same works if I do one way SIN-JFK. I get CX and JL options with connections in HKG and NRT, respectively.

    Thanks!
So only AA codeshare flights? No CX/JL flight numbers.

But SIN to LHR appears to route through the US. Nuts!

didnt see any direct flight numbers, all code shares. However, if youre buying these on AA and crediting to AAdvantage, you earn more than if you were to buy from CX/JL directly and credit to AAdvantage (until August 1, 2016 anyway)
