12-Hour Overnight Layover in HKG

12-Hour Overnight Layover in HKG

A question about a 12-hour overnight layover in HKG by CX flights (ORD-HKG-KHH) that arrives in HKG at 8pm and the next one to KHH departs at 8am the nest day. For flights in this nature, does the passenger need to take the checked-in luggage out, go thru the customs and recheck in? Or it could be checked in all the way to KHH from ORD? Did try to call CX customer services but fail to get a live person after many attempts. Thanks in advance for any insight.

In my experience, it can be checked through but I would keep some cloths and necessities in my carry on. Also, for your layover, I suggest you pop out to the city for a quick walkaround and not be stuck in the sterile airport for such a long time even if you have lounge access.

They’ll check it thru and keep the bag overnight unless you tell ORD check in that you want your bag in HK
