Does downgrading a card hurt history?

Does downgrading a card hurt history?

Does anyone know if downgrading my Sapphire Preferred which has the longest history will effect my credit score/length of credit history? I want to consider Sapphire Reserve but currently have Preferred, so don’t need both of them.

Also, what does downgrading a business credit card do, if anything?
    Thanks!

Downgrading shouldnt affect the history since it’s the same account, regardless of whether its a business or a personal card

Ok, that’s good to know. Any idea what I should downgrade my Preffered to? I already have the Chase Freedom.

And as for my Chase Ink Plus, if I want to decrease annual fees, I’m assuming I should get the Chase Ink Cash? I really value the 5x bonus on phone, Internet, and office supplies.

Should I downgrade both cards as once or does it not matter?

    Thanks!

You can downgrade to Freedom as well. Chase allows you to have more than one Freedom card. You can downgrade the Ink Plus to Ink Cash though suggest you apply for an Ink Cash separately to get the bonus and then downgrade the Plus to a Cash if they’ll allow it.

Just make sure that you have one of either the Chase Sapphire Preferred, Reserve, or Ink Plus cards since those unlock the full potential of the UR points, allowing transfers to airline and hotel programs.
