Where Should I Bank My Miles?
Hi to everyone! Long-time reader and a first time poster. I have recently been reassigned by my employer to work from our Asia office (in MNL) to our Europe office (in AMS). Company paid for a full-fare one way Business Class seat on CX.
Given I am going to be based in AMS for the foreseeable future, I would have banked these miles on Alaska Airlines. I found out that they no longer partner with KLM, so that’s no longer a go.
Should I bank this to Asia Miles (I am not currently a member)? Or Avios? Should I also get a credit card while here in the Netherlands? I see that American Express is really the only one giving worthwhile miles per spend.
What are your travel patterns going to be, once you move to AMS?

Business travel will not be commonplace for me. I will be paying for flights ~2x a year to return to MNL.
What about personal travel? Putting the miles to BA Avios will be good for short haul flights around Europe. You could also credit to AA and AS – they usually have promos for buying miles you could take advantage of.
Alaska is probably still a good option then! You can purchase miles to top off the account, and there’s typically good availability on Cathay back to Asia.
