Virgin Atlantic Upper Class
Hi Ben,
Do you have any insight on how VS releases award space for partners like Delta? They seem to have plenty of space when schedule opens but then will shut it down when within 2 months. I’d like to get 2 seats from JFK-LHR late May but not sure if they will release seats reliably last minute?
Thanks!
Andy, they do seem to be all over the place lately. As a general rule of thumb I find space to be very good in advance when the schedule opens (as you note), and then again close to departure. I wouldn’t say it’s all that consistent, though I think with JFK-LHR you should have luck given how many frequencies they have.

My experience is the same as Ben. Last minute seats can pop up.
Hi there – A friend asked if I knew when the Award Seats for VS would ‘open’ in advance. She’s looking for 2 Upper Class seats from SFO to LHR in Oct and hasn’t seen any. I’ve explained that she could look at LAX or even LAS for availability. What’s the schedule for VS to open their seats in advance? 18 months? 12 months?
