Using United site for Aeroplan availability?
I am trying to book a roundtrip with Aeroplan on Swiss and found a lot of availability for the week I want to travel on United.com, then called to book with Aeroplan and they can’t find the same flights available. Is this an issue with Aeroplan? Or do they not have the same award space available as United? I swear that I have done this in the past!
They should have access to the same award space. However, you have to be careful on United’s site to make sure that you find space in the “SAVER” column. What’s not in that column is a standard award and not available for Aeroplan to book.
You should be able to search on Aeroplan segment by segment to see whats available
Oh, yeah, I should have mentioned that I did find all saver availability. When I look for the segments on Aeroplan’s site, I’m not finding them there either, even though they have saver space on United.com.
Well that’s odd. Try checking for space on ANA and/or LifeMiles’ websites. Could be phantom space.
@Dominic – are you a UA credit card holder and are you searching while logged into the UA site? If so you’ll see more saver space than is available to partners.
@MidSouth Skier I thought that was only for flights on UA metal. Or do I have it wrong? I dont have the UA card (yet…… haha)
D’oh! You’re right.
Update: the Swiss space is all showing on ANA and Lifemiles, but not Aeroplan. Maybe I should call Aeroplan again and ask for a supervisor? Or could it be blocked?
Call Aeroplan and prepare for a lengthy wait
Called again and the second agent I spoke to said that Aeroplan is having an issue with Swiss and they aren’t able to book any Swiss flights. She suggested that I check in on that daily until they fix it.
I had the same issue back in January with Aeroplan–Swiss air showing on United, but not only did Aeroplan online not show it, but the two folks I spoke to said they didn’t have it. Two days later Austrian air showed up on United and that did show up on Aeroplan and I nabbed that instead. So I think it is a Swiss issue.
