Using IB Avios

Using IB Avios

Hi Guys,

Can I use IB Avios miles to book flight on CX or JL?
Are the Redemption rates similar to BA Avios for Partner flights or more inline with IB?

Thanks!

Yes you can use IB Avios to book all Oneworld awards same as BA, IB uses the same partner chart as BA.

See these articles by @Tiffany for more information:

And this by Lucky with award charts:

ok so for example , SFO-HKG on CX F, cost 140000 + $59.40tax searching on BA. This will be the same price if i use IB Avios?

Since IB uses the same award chart as BA for partner flights I would assume so yes. Can say for certain about the tax without searching the specific award.

IB Avios work best for flights with connections on partners since they use length of all flight segments for the award cost rather than on per segment like BA.

As an example

1 segment=1 IB award
2 (or more) segments=1 IB award

1 segment=1 BA award
2 segments=2 BA awards
3 segments=3 BA awards
