urgent Alaska Airlines buy miles issue
Hello!
I bought alaska airlines miles yesterday. But the miles hasn’t gone into my account yet. I have a reservation on hold and it will expire in a few hours. Alaska customer care said that they could not expedite the process because it was points.com who processes the transaction. I would like to know if they process the transaction during weekends or do they simply rest on weekends and push all transaction processes to weekdays? This is really urgent and I really need some help. Thank you!
Hi @Carl — generally the transactions process instantly, unless there is some kind of issue with your card.
However, Alaska doesn’t allow holds on award tickets to my knowledge, so I’m a bit puzzled?

Thanks for your help. I reached out for the supervisor of reservation team and they thus allowed me to hold for 24 hours. But I have encountered this problem twice. In the first time, I used two separate cards to buy miles; one get through instantly and the other one didn’t. So this time I used the card that went through the transaction instantly. But I still encountered this issue. It is really weird and annoying since points.com has no one in office during weekends and next Monday. Do they process transactions during weekends also? Thanks!
Buying points nowadays is pretty much handled by a computer end to end. There should really be no reason that transactions are delayed unless points.com’s system are experiencing technical errors or if there was a problem processing the payment. It shouldnt matter whether its a weekend or a weekday. I’d call points.com directly or whatever AS points.com hotline there is and see what the issue is.

Thanks! But the real issue is that their customer service don’t work on weekends and also on Monday because of Victoria’s Day in Canada. I also called alaska but they said that all they could do was to send points.com an email. I called my bank too and they said that the authorization was successful although the transaction hasn’t been processed because it is weekend. But I don’t think that points.com needs the actual transaction to be completed before they would transfer the miles to my account right? It would be really annoying if the seat is taken during the weekend.
Buy them from Alaska’s website, not points.com. It’s still processed by points.com but seems to work better. I’ve had experience with this.

Yes, I bought them from Alaska website, not points.com. How long have you waited for the process to complete?
Last time (about two months ago) it was instant, or near enough. Certainly less than a couple of minutes.
