Upgrade using miles?
Recently retired and time to travel. It will be slow picking up mileage points now, being on a pension and a budget – yuk. But I have a question about using miles for upgrades from economy class. My miles consist of Alaska Airlines @ 9600 for me and 16614 for my wife. United Airlines 37882 miles for me only. American Airlines 100,000 me and 5886 for my wife. Capital One with $5042.00 worth of travel tickets available. And finally Barclay Arrival+ with $1132.00 worth of travel tickets available.
Can I buy economy tickets for instance to Europe, which I can use my Capital One and Barclay card travel funds for, and then use my miles to upgrade to Business Class? If so how do I do this??
I just applied for the Chase Sapphire Preferred card, and will build this up using it for Travel and Dinners out, that way I can at least transfer these miles to several travel programs. Thanks to this site for making me aware of this card.
Thanks for your help in this matter .. Paul
