Upgrade award night using cash

Upgrade award night using cash

I’m looking to book a 5 night stay at an SPG property in Phuket. I have enough SPG points for the standard redemption (i.e. basic room). Would love to book directly into the villa, which is the next room up. Is there any way to book with points, and then call to pay to upgrade into a villa? For example, standard room rate is around $360 per night, while the villa is $510. Would I be able to book the standard room on points and then pay the difference (5 x $150)?

    Thanks!

You’d have to call them about the upgrade but it’s probably going to cost more than just the difference in room rates. Hotels aren’t reimbursed at the standard room rate when you book award nights.

Thanks David! Appreciate the reply. I sent them an email, given the time difference. Will given them a call next week if I don’t hear back.

Actually, if you call SPG, they might be able see if you can use points for the villa. Not sure how much more it’ll cost but might be worth finding out? At minimum, you’ll know what options you have.
