United MileagePlus PAR-LAX summer 2019 – no UA partner awards?

United MileagePlus PAR-LAX summer 2019 – no UA partner awards?

Last year (October 2017) there was a fair amount of StarAlliance partner availability in economy via United’s website — no problem finding PAR-FRA-LAX on Lufthansa, for example. This year (October 2018) there’s nothing — nada, zilch — from June 22 through August 18 or so except for an occasional 26-hour routing on Austrian (with an overnight layover in VIE) and a few 19-1/2 hour 2-stops on Brussels + Aer Lingus.

For what it’s worth, the partners’ “usual” nonstop intercontinental routes also seem to be totally missing during this time period. For example, there are no nonstops at all on LH for FRA-LAX between those dates.

Does anyone know what’s up with this? Has everything already been snapped up for two consecutive months next summer? Is United preferentially pushing its own flights by withholding availability on its partners? Is this wait-and-see on the part of LH et al? And (from a practical point of view) should I grab whatever’s available right now or wait for additional inventory to materialize at some point?
