Trip for Proposal in Madagascar
Hi all-
My gf has had a lifelong dream to visit Madagascar (she loves lemurs) and I would love to take her there this summer to propose. She is a teacher and I have flexibility at work so anytime in the June, July, August time frame would work. This being a proposal I would love to take her in at least business class. I have looked at award space on Delta, Air France, AA and UA to locations like DXB, JNB and SEZ and paying to get to TNG but all award space has either been for >450k miles for the two of us or a mix of points and thousands of dollars. We live in PHL but could easily get to anywhere on the east coast to make a flight. Any suggestions on where else I should be looking?
Also a little info. I have the following:
300k MR
120k TY
50k AA miles
45k SPG points
13k Emirates Miles
As you can see I’ve never redeemed any of my points and was always planning on using them for a trip of a lifetime once I met the one. I did so time to put to use!
Thanks
@tvmurt – welcome! Madagascar can be challenge with miles. Here is a decent primer that discusses miles options to the country: http://www.milestothewild.com/getting-to-madagascar-with-airline-miles/
Your MR will be useful for the Flying Blue options but AF does not have a consistently great business hard product. It might be worthwhile to have an award booking service take a look at this for you. Alternately consider just spending cash for economy tickets and have the location be the wow factor and save your miles for the honeymoon?
