SPG to Marriott
Hello all,
I have 100K SPG points and was stacking it to use with Alaska in Emirates F. 100K SPG points can be converted to 125K Alaska points. Now as we can transfer SPG to Marriott 1:3 ratio, is it better to transfer SPG points to Marriott and use them towards Marriott Hotel + air packages and get 7 nights of category 1-5 hotel voucher and 120K Alaska points?
Please advise.
Thanks
FA

My understanding is that 270k Marriott points will get you the 7 nights in a cat 1-5 Marriott and the 120k AS miles leaving you with an extra 30k Marriott/10k SPG points left over. The direct transfer nets you 125k AS points. So for giving up 5k AS miles, you gain 7 nights + plus left over points. Seems like a no brainer to me. FYI when trying to look up nights and flights on the Marriott website I kept getting error messages. Not sure if Marriott is playing around with this option or its just routine system maintenance.

I believe you have to call in to make reservation. You can’t do it online.
I assume you know that the 7 nights are consecutive. Too many in a row? How about 5 nights. Apparently they have a 5 night package that costs you 235K Marriott points, gets 5 nights at a Cat 1-5 hotel and 120K AK points. So 235 Marriott points is 78.3, converting 80K SPG points still leaves you 20KSPG, and you get the same 120K Alaska points with 5 nights.
Option 1:
100K SPG = 300Marriott
270K Marriott gets 7 nights and 120K points
30K Marriott left over
Option 2:
80K SPG = 240KMarriott
235K Marriott gets 5 nights and 120K points
20K SPG left over
5K Marriott left over
