Should I do the TrueBlue/Elevate Points Match?

Should I do the TrueBlue/Elevate Points Match?

    Hi Friends,

Longtime OMAAT reader, first time forum poster here. As incredible a deal as it is, I’m struggling with whether I should go forth with JetBlue’s points match promo for Virgin America Elevate members…

I currently have zero Elevate points, but thanks to my SPG balance I can get to 30,001, which as you folks know would net me 50K TrueBlue points after a qualifying flight (I’d just do an $85 LGB-OAK roundtrip to meet it). It’s really tempting to parlay 25K SPG points into 80K total points across two airlines, but I don’t foresee myself building huge balances in these programs beyond this promotion, and their routes (especially JetBlue’s) are not that attractive from my home base of LAX.

I typically redeem points for long-haul international travel and AA (where I’m Platinum) and Alaska (MVP Gold) have been my bread-and-butter for that. Before this TrueBlue promo came around I was hoarding my SPG points for a likely transfer to Alaska, which I think will become my go-to program following AA’s devaluation.

So I ask: Do I spread my mileage wealth and add Elevate and TrueBlue points to my portfolio, or stay the course with a much lower bang-for-buck SPG transfer to Alaska?

I think its worth it if you could make use of the VX Elevate miles and the jetBlue points. If you check out lucky’s posts, he is using his VX miles for travel on Virgin Australia and his jetBlue points can be used on flights, especially since you can have a family account.

Well, and don’t forget, at some point those elevate points are going to become AS points! Just make sure to keep your account active.

Thanks guys… Decided to pull the trigger on the SPG transfer/points match and am eagerly awaiting my confirmation from JetBlue!
