Hi everyone!

I need to get from Singapore to Abu Dhabi in October. What would be a better choice:

QR SIN-DOH (A350)-AUH or EY SIN-AUH (B789), both in Business.

For QR DOH-AUH I’d be in econ since otherwise, the entire award prices out as first class. (Is there a way around that?)

I’m flying EY’s 789 in First next month but I’ve never flown on QR metal, much less an A350. I’ll be traveling with a friend in October who thinks a 3 hour flight to Orlando is too long so this should be fun experience for him.

I’ve never flown with any of these airlines, but will fly from FRA to SIN in July with Qatar in C.
What I want to say is,
you can book SIN-DOH with miles and pay for a separate ticket to AUH.

I assume you are booking this with AA miles?

QR DOH-AUH is a 2 class flight Y+F with no J, but using the J seats as F on wide bodies.

Since the AA website can not handle it as a J award you have to call AA to get it priced as a J award manually.

And have the AA agent drop the phone booking fee while you are at it since this can not be booked online.

And the bonus is since you will now be traveling in QR F DOH-AUH you get access to the QR F lounge in DOH.

Flights inside the gulf in F can get very pricey even if they are short, BA avios are your best friend you need to do a short QR separate ticket.

Or transfer points over to EY since their award chart is distance based for flights on EY and Oman Air, for short hops on Emirates transfer points to JAL who also have a distance based award chart.
