Qatar seats open for American points
Hi. When does Qatar open seats for One World point redemption? Trying to fly from Dallas to JRO
Welcome @Dawn carson – it’s best to search segment-by-segment. And while it would be convenient to fly out of DFW watch for availability to other North American cities. Qatar also flies to Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, Montreal, Philadelphia and Washington Dulles. Once you find availability from one of these cities to Doha, then check for availability to JRO. Or, if you find limited space on the DOH-JRO leg, see which of these cities has availability on that day. If you find award space from a different city on the way out but it is available to DFW on the return (or vice-versa) just book two one-way tickets.
Qatar opens up their award calendar at 361 days in advance per Ben’s post from a year ago. Assuming you’re using AA miles, you won’t be able to book until 331 days in advance. So that will give folks using certain other airline currencies about a month’s head-start on grabbing those award seats ahead of you. I would suspect that folks using other currencies would be less interested in the North America – Doha legs and more interested in the DOH-JRO legs so that’s where competition might be tougher.
Good luck!
