Prebooked Emirates First on Alaska – Covid
My wife and I booked first class tickets from BOS to Seychelles, with a stopover in Dubai, on Emirates for August 2020 back in January this year. We booked this flight using Alaska Mileage Plan. Currently, Emirates is not even flying to Boston, and we are not sure if Seychelles (or even UAE) will allow US citizens entry in August. We have been good about wearing masks and distancing, and would still go if possible. But things are looking less likely as time goes by. What are our options at this point?
If you have Gold or 75K status, you can redeposit your miles and get a refund to your credit card for the award fees. Otherwise, you could wait until the flights get canceled and then call AK to do the same thing at no cost to you. You may want to check with AK regarding how close in you can cancel your award ticket and still keep your miles, just in case your flights are not formally canceled within that time frame.
