Point sharing with Citi Thank You

Point sharing with Citi Thank You

Citi Thank You points that I have earned do not expire (as long as I keep the account open), but points transferred to me by a friend or family member do – after 90 days. (Am I correct about that ??)

I have about 40K points in my CitiTY account. If a friend transferred 40K points to me, I would have 80K, but half would expire in 90 days.

My question is, if I booked a 50K flight, which points would Citi use up first? The transferred ones or my own? That makes a difference! In one case I would be left with 30K of non-expiring points. In the other my account would go to zero after 90 days!

Thanks to anyone who has experience/insight with this!
