I have an aa award trip from dfw to akl with a return from queensland to dfw in September. I was able to get business seats on the outgoing and economy on return. On nov.13 I saw a first class seat available on the return flight so I called an aa agent and tried to get this seat and was told it wasn’t available even though it came up at the advantage site. I went back on the site and it was still there so I tried an agent again, and was told that there were business seats for zqn to brisbane but not over the water to dfw. At this point i went back on and put the flight on hold which gave me business to brisbane and first class to dfw.When i called an agent to try to get this flight i was told since i just had the return segment on hold there was no way to change the return to the flight on hold. It just seems like there would surely be some way to do this. I have not canceled the flight on hold and would be willing to pay the reinstatement fee if necessary to get this ticket. My plan was to try to get another ticket in business or first if it came available, although that wouldn’t have to happen. The agent confirmed that that ticket was available and suggested I cancel original booking and see if that ticket would come up, but there’s virtually nothing available now. Please offer any advice or possibilities
