MXP-JFK on EK w/ JL miles: 65k or 90k one-way?
Hey Lucky,
I’m looking to book a one-way on the EK MXP-JFK.
GCM has it as 3,995, on ITA the flight shows up as 3,982, on FlightAware it’s 3,989. But it seems JL uses IATA, which puts the cities at 4,012 miles apart.
I think I know the answer, but I’m curious if you have had any experiences (or heard of any) getting this for 65k?
TIA!
Hi all,
It seems MXP-JFK is 3,995 on GCM, but JL uses IATA (city center to city center) which gives them 4,012 miles.
Given the award level changes from 2,001-4,000 (65K) and 4,001-6,000 (90K), I’m wondering if (1) JL by chance uses a system for mileage calculation that’s different from the website or (2) if they give any leeway (doubt it)?
Most useful would be anybody who’s booked this award.
TIA!
MarkA, They’re likely going to use whatever their computer tells them. I wouldn’t bet on being able to change it. Unfortunate but still annoying when the figures are so close.
Well, after 43 minutes waiting for a JAL agent on the USA line, I received the answer I didn’t want — it’s 90k miles for JFK-MXP, not 65k. Grrrrrrrrr.
Anyway, now we know.
