Manipulating awards to get the best value

Manipulating awards to get the best value

How can I manipulate premium cabin awards with random connections in economy i.e. DCA-MCI/BMH/PIT-DFW-LIM to get domestic flights in premium cabins, make the flights non-stop, or even just get MCE on the domestic flights. This isn’t even the worst I’ve seen I once saw an AA award in F from BWI to DOH Go BWI-LHR-BAH-DOH with the BWI-LHR flight in Economy.

Search for the longest leg first and then tack on the shorter legs around it. If you can’t get the website to automatically build that you could try using the multi-city tool and if that doesn’t work you will probably have to call. But airlines should waive the call-in fees if you can’t get the website to build it.

That’s an unusual award but I’m not sure why you would try to manipulate your award to get a Y seat. Most airlines charge based on the highest class of service so you would be paying the higher price. Sometimes people have to travel on a particular day so they will take a voluntary downgrade on a given segment to complete an itinerary but I’m not sure anyone aims for this…

The odd award with the RJ connection in Y between 2 hubs is what showed up when I searched the award
