Looking for space in J EWR->CPH for the fall

Looking for space in J EWR->CPH for the fall

Anybody know how early SAS typically releases award seats in business for Newark to Copenhagen using United miles? I’ll need two seats in the late-Sept/early-Oct timeframe, and I’m not seeing anything non-stop in J this far out. We’ll be staying in a friend’s guest room, and she’s asking for as much notice as possible so I can’t really leave this to the last minute.

Also, I have a good healthy balance of Chase UR points, so I’m guessing I should move these to UA and book that way, unless there’s a better way via a different program.

Coming back will be via Helsinki using AAdvantage miles to JFK, hopefully on AY Premium Economy, or failing that, via Heathrow on AA metal.

Just keep checking often probably. I think SAS space is random. Are you set on SAS? Could you fly Lufthansa or Swiss and connect?

I *could*, but SAS offers a nonstop flight, which we both prefer. And quite honestly, I think a lie-flat seat in J on a direct itinerary is the only way my better half will agree to this whole thing.

It looks like SAS flies twice daily from Newark to Copenhagen… so unless someone grabbed the seats when the schedule opened a few months ago, I’d be relatively confident they opened up eventually. But, eventually could be 5-10 days before departure.

If you’re looking for that advance notice to give your friend – your best bet would be booking what you can now and trying to switch to the non-stop later. I think United still charges $125 per ticket for that…
