Hi all,

I’m searching for award space “O” on LH between India (DEL, BOM) and FRA, but fail to see any on the west-bound leg on Lifemiles, ANA, Aeroplan nor UA. On the other hand, a search for the east-bound leg produces ample award space. Does LH block award space on legs from India? Is this common and is there a workaround?

Dont think it’s blocked, they just havent released any or it’s popular and all previously available award seats are booked.

What about connecting on another airline?

Ethiopian thru Addis Ababa,
LOT thru Warsaw (starts mid Sept 2019)
Turkish thru Istanbul
Thai thru Bangkok
Singapore thru Singapore (check on SQ’s website)
Swiss thru Zurich
Air China thru Beijing
EgyptAir thru Cairo

Looking to use Lifemiles. ANA is an alternative, but I prefer LH, since ANA does not have F from India. Swiss would be another preference, but they restrict award space on first class to their elite members. SQ is good, but not redeemable through Lifemiles. The other airlines either don’t have F or don’t have products of interest to me.It seems highly unlikely that LH spaces are already booked. It just seems like LH does not release award spaces from India or restricts awards space inventory to partners.

To clarify, I have redeemed Lifemiles for “O” fares in the past from the USA to DEL on LH frequently. In those instances, I had to continue East for my trips. This is the first time I am researching “O” space on LH from India west-bound.

Forgot that O space was for Star Alliance First Class awards.

LH blocks F space to partners until within 14 days of travel. If you’re looking for LH F awards outside of the 14 day travel window, it generally wont show up.

LH F awards in advance of 14 days are only available to their own members.

I am aware of the 14 day rule to LH. As I said, searches on the east-bound leg have sufficient O spaces. Seems like no award space (any class) appears from DEL/BOM – FRA. I’ve never had trouble finding award space on LH, previous to this. Just looking to see if anyone had similar experiences specifically to flights out of India and if they found a workaround.
