If i recall correctly, with AS miles on JL you can get a free stop over for example( BKK-TYO-PVG) for 25k in business.
But does it work for something of the opposite? like TYO-PVG, HKG-TYO? or would that need to be 2 separate reservations?

comes up as two awards because it’s not a stopover in JAL’s gateway city. It’s essentially an open jaw round trip.
