Iberia No Longer TOTAL Distance?
Hi there,
I’m trying to price out a business class award flight from JFK to LCG (a town called A Coruña) via MAD using only Iberia metal. The mileage is about ~3900, so it’s less than 4,000 miles (band 5). I chose the date of 1/14/19, which is in off-peak season. Using their current award chart, this trip should price out to 34,000 Avios (JFK-MAD-LCG = 3900 miles = band 5 = 34,000), but it’s instead pricing out the way that British Airways would do it (JFK-MAD = 3500 miles = band 5 = 34,000 + MAD-LCG = < 500 miles = band 1 = 9,000 TOTALING 43,000 Avios). Is this known? Or is this a change in how Iberia is doing things?
This isn’t *new*, in that it’s several months old at least (roughly when IB added Y+ to their chart?), but it is a change from how things used to be.
Partner awards still price based on cumulative distance, but if you’re exclusively on IB metal you do pay per segment. 🙁
